Lamination and Encapsulation in Ashford, from ID Cards to A0 Plans

Lamination is the cheapest way to make a printed document last, and at our Ashford workshop it is usually done while you wait. Pouch lamination covers individual items from ID-card size up to A3 in 80, 100, 150 or 250 micron pouches, gloss or matt, which suits certificates, menus, notices and reference cards. Roll lamination handles A2, A1, A0 and wider prints in one seamless pass, so posters, plans and exhibition graphics get the same protection as a single sheet.

The finish is a real choice rather than a default. Gloss makes colour pop, matt gives a non-reflective surface for a smarter look, and anti-glare is the one to pick for documents that will be read under strong lighting. Where a laminated sheet still has exposed paper edges, encapsulation seals the document on all four sides so no water can get in, which is why it is the right option for outdoor signage, wipe-clean menus, maps and site plans that live in a van or on a wall for months.

Large-format lamination can be combined with mounting on foam board or rigid board for presentation and site use. Bring a single menu in, or send a batch of training manuals, site plans or display posters ahead; most lamination jobs are completed the same day. We have been finishing print in Ashford since 1990.

Frequently Asked Questions

What is the difference between lamination and encapsulation?
Lamination applies a protective film to one or both surfaces of a document but leaves the edges exposed. Encapsulation seals the document completely on all four sides, providing full edge-to-edge protection against moisture and dirt.
What sizes can you laminate?
We laminate documents from as small as ID cards and A5 sheets right up to A0 and beyond using our roll lamination equipment. Pouch lamination covers sizes up to A3, and roll lamination handles anything larger.
Is lamination waterproof?
Standard lamination provides good splash resistance but does not fully seal the edges. For full waterproofing, encapsulation is the better choice as it seals the document on all sides and prevents any water ingress.
